Forrest
S. Smith received his bachelor's degree from the University of New
Mexico in 1952 and his juris doctor degree from U.N.M. in 1964.
While
earning his juris doctor degree, Mr. Smith was an editor of the
Natural Resources Journal. Upon graduation, he served as law clerk to
the Hon. H. Vearle Payne, U.S. District Court for New Mexico, and the
Hon. Oliver Seth, United States Court of Appeals for the 10th
Circuit.
Mr. Smith
managed the trust department of The First National Bank of Santa Fe
for eleven years and since that time has practiced probate, trust and
estate planning law. He served on the New Mexico Probate Code
Revision Committee from 1968 to 1975 and is a Fellow of the American
College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a member of the board of
directors of the Santa Fe Community Foundation, an emeritus member of
the board of trustees of the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation, and has
served on the Board of Managers of the School of American Research.
